Sea Creature Concept - Drosectus

A quick practice piece for creature concept art. This one was inspired by Subnautica, and I wanted to try my hand at creating a creature that could appear in that world. Drosectus is a filter feeder similar to a whale, with a mouth resembling a squid of sorts. This creature uses its net-like maw to funnel its food into its mouth. Its jaws can also close and form a sharp beak at the tip as a way to fend off would-be aggressors, and to break brittle objects. Its three fins help propel it slowly through the water as it feeds, and turn sharply when a predator is near. The glowing stripe helps to identify itself to others of its species and attract mates. The reflective spots draw its prey near to it, and it works well, especially in the deep dark where it can't see the rest of it. While Drosectus can defend itself, it is not a fighter and often chooses to flee instead. It is neutral to divers, but it will remember a face if it is attacked.
